From whence shall come my help?

The G-d of Israel Does Not Slumber or Sleep

Shira Choir performs new song
Lyrics taken from Psalms 121.4 and 127.1

Because I can’t stop listening!

Because you also might be in need of something joyful to pull you out of the
Election Season Muck.

Psalm 121 is a blessing for someone going on a journey or for a pilgrim returning home from the Temple. Though the psalm is not associated with the return of the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem, I can’t help but think of David’s joyful jumping and dancing (2 Samuel 6) as I listen to the incredible energy of Shira Choir.

Psalm 121

A song of ascents.
I raise my eyes toward the mountains.
From whence shall come my help?

My help comes from the LORD,
the maker of heaven and earth.

He will not allow your foot to slip
or your guardian to sleep.
Behold, the guardian of Israel
never slumbers nor sleeps.

The LORD is your guardian;
the LORD is your shade
at your right hand.
By day the sun will not strike you,
nor the moon by night.

The LORD will guard you from all evil;
he will guard your soul.
The LORD will guard your coming and going
both now and forever.
